"Service to man is a true religion "Inspired by this principle, Shri. Y.D.Mane established "The Kagal Education Society", Kagal(KES) in 1960.
The Kagal Education Society, Kagal has various Govt. aided & non- aided educational and Social Institutions which has benefited thousands of students within and around Kagal city.
The KES with its first endeavor in 1960,“Devchand Shah Chatralaya", hostel for the destitute children, opened its door for more than 100 students from the backward classes. Since then, The Kagal Education Society has undergone many ups & downs during its remarkable journey of 60 years.
D.R.Mane College of Science, Commerce & Arts is one more feather in KES cap, the only senior college at Kagal, permanently affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur.It also delivers Vocational Courses (HSCVC) to 10th students those who are not willing to go for higher education. Incidentally, the very site of the college was trocen upon by the holy and pious feet of Rajarshi Chatrapati ShahuMaharaj.
Today KES runs a host of primary and secondary schools, a Junior college with its vocational wing in six trades, a senior multi-faculty college, a couple of diploma courses in agriculture, technical education, pharmacy, nursing, different courses in professional education and distance education.
It is constantly engaged in rendering educational services to more than ten thousand students belonging to different strata of society.
Our aim is to nurture our students with best quality, relevant and vision based education, to develop aptitude, skills and values which will enable them to strive for excellence and perfection in the tasks undertaken to serve the needs of industry, society and nation particularly in rural zone to prepare them for an exciting and rewarding career.

Hon. Shri Y.D.MANE(Anna) was born & brought up in the fatherhood of late ShriDinkarraoRamchandra Mane Alias(Dada).The reputed teacher and disciplinarian, a staunch activist of Satyashodhak Movement started by Mahatma JyotibaPhule.
Visionary Anna wastrue entrepreneur, an educationist at bones, active politician, a social reformer& an agriculturist. He was agraduate from Ferguson College,Pune. Initially, he took up teaching as his career, during which he was an opportunist to work with reputed scientist Dr.VasantGowarikar. Inborn quality of entrepreneurship and his urge to literate and extend his helping hands to masses heconceptualized –“TheKagal Education Society”, at his birth place Kagal in year 1960.
Hon. Mr. Pratap.Y. Mane (Bhaiyya) has been bestowed with a great legacy of his father Shri. Y.D. Mane (Anna) and his grandfather Shri.D.R.Manein political, social and educational field.
However Mr.PratapMane was embossed as an independent personality due to his remarkable contribution in political and social field. During the period from 1991 to 2000, he has been the Vice President of the Kagal Municipal Council twice for two consecutive terms as a Counciler and as a Chairman of several committees in the council. In 2009, he became the Chairman of the KagalTaluka Sanjay Gandhi NiradharYojana and through this scheme; he was instrumental in receiving pension for many poor people, widows, disabled and blinds in the Kagaltaluka.He first became the General Secretary of Kolhapur District National IstCongress Party and later became its State Vice President in 2014. In theKagal Municipal Council, under his scholarly leadership various schemes for the development of the city were initiated.
